Upgrading from ShoreTel’s Communicator to Connect computer client brings a fresh new look and a few changes. Aside from a change in layout, most all functionality from the former to the new is available. The new client does look and feel newer, and there are some terminology changes:
Changed (color in the image below):
‘Call Handling’ is now ‘Availability State’ (green)
‘Contacts’ is now ‘People’ (blue)
‘History ‘ is now ‘Recent’ (purple)
‘Application’ Button is now ‘Connect’ (yellow; pull-down menu for accessing help and settings)
‘Voice Mail’ is now ‘Voicemails’ (red)
Remains the Same:
‘Quick Dialer’ – This remains in the new Connect client but is located in the upper portion of the dashboard.
‘Current Call Indicator’ – This also remains, otherwise known as a call or line appearance, and shows in the left-navigation window just beneath the button list. When clicking on the call appearance, remaining telephony features available to you will open into a new pane on your client. All additional features panes open and expand your client to the right.
‘Events’ – This is another view into your email calendar. You can also create meetings from this view that will populate your email calendar.
Your Information – Near the top left of your dashboard, your own information is presented, offering quick access to your own Availability State and, if you click on your name, you’ll have quick access to Settings as opposed to using the Connect pull-down menu.
